Pokémon GO League Cup tournaments are competitive events held regularly at game stores that host Play! Pokémon events. It’s a great way to understand the fundamentals of battling in Pokémon GO, as well as the ideal place to test your skills in battle against other Pokémon GO players!

Registration

This GO League Cup Tournament is intended for competitive players. Each event can host a limit of 20 competitors. Players can register in-person or online starting two weeks prior to the tournament, and registration is open until all spots have been reserved. Players should arrive at 5:30 PM. Last call for registration is 5:50 PM.

Preparation

In order to compete you will be asked to provide your own phone with the latest version of Pokémon GO downloaded and a printed or emailed RK9 team sheet. Your team will need to be checked by a Staff member, to ensure all Pokémon are tournament-legal and match your team sheet. Final changes must be made before 5:50 PM.

Competition

The first round of swiss starts at 6:00 PM, and the first match-ups are randomized by the tournament software. All subsequent rounds are determined by a player’s calculated win-loss ratio for direct matches. This means that each round, players are randomly matched up with other players that have the same win-loss ratio. There can be up to 5 total rounds, each with 3 matches.

Prizing

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place are determined by the final win-loss ratio of the top players, and will receive Championship points in addition to cash prizing! All entry fees combine to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash prizes! 1st place receives 40% of the entry fees, 2nd place receives 30%, 3rd place receives 20%, and 4th place receives 10%. In the case of a tie for the top placements, the tiebreaker will be determined by the opponents win percentage!
